The international digital festival Orlando Interactive Experience, or OrlandoiX, will run Oct. 2-6 with UCF’s Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy as one of the sponsoring partners.
The event will showcase Orlando’s booming technology industry, namely entertainment technology, interactive media and digital arts. Featured events include the Gaming Experience, Startup Summit and Digital Expo, as well as a speaker series.
“FIEA and SVAD [UCF’s School of Visual Arts and Design] are two reasons why tech is Orlando’s fastest-growing industry and are continually filling the pipeline of workers,” said David Glass, executive producer and founder of OrlandoiX.
Orlando is among the largest technology clusters in the nation and boasts a $14 billion industry. Already recognized as a world leader in modeling, simulation and training, the region is also home to an emerging entertainment technology and digital media hub.
“We created this public event to showcase cutting-edge digital technology from around the world,” Glass said.
Keynote speakers include: Michelle McKenna-Doyle, senior vice president and CIO of the National Football League; Kimberly Gnatt, global group director of digital marketing at The Coca-Cola Company; Jim Stikeleather, chief innovation officer at Dell; Matthew Knell, VP of social media and community at About.com; Ted Murphy, founder, chairman and CEO at IZEA; and Bob Allen, chief storytelling officer at IDEAS.
OrlandoiX starts with an opening night party at Wall Street Plaza in downtown Orlando. The rest of the festival will be at the Orange County Convention Center and feature keynotes, panels, exhibits, games and entertainment.
