In 2007, UCF’s Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC) assisted John and Pamela Paré in rebuilding their home, destroyed in a hurricane. It became the first house in the state to achieve the silver certification under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for Homes standard.
The FSEC-assisted LEED-certified home was recognized nationally by sources such as Reuters and the U.S. Department of Energy.
