Separating the business from the personal is a lot harder than it looks. It can be especially challenging when employers live with your employees. Jim Combs, Ph.D., will be discussing the five key factors that distinguish a successful family business at this month’s UCF College of Business (#UCFBusiness) Dean’s Speaker Series, generously supported by CFE Federal Credit Union.

In an upcoming Wall Street Journal article, Combs states, “Here’s a sobering fact for entrepreneurs passionate about their business creations: Most family-owned businesses lose that creative spark in subsequent generations.”

On Friday, November 20th at 7:30 a.m. at the Citrus Club in Downtown Orlando, attendees will learn:

  • What separates the successful entrepreneur from the rest of the world?
  • What provides the creative spark and passion to ensure that a founder’s company continues on after his or her passing it on to others?
  • Whether or not the traits of an entrepreneur can be taught, learned or passed onto a future generations
  • Jim Combs, Ph.D., is the Dr. Phillips Chair of American Private Enterprise and professor of management at #UCFBusiness. Learn more about him on the college website.
