UCF’s Career Services in partnership with Florida Career Centers hosted the 23rd Annual Statewide Job Fair on May 12 at the UCF Arena. The Statewide Job Fair provides employers with the opportunity to recruit graduates and alumni from Florida’s 10 state universities at one event. The event was a success with 112 employers and approximately 1,400 students in attendance.

“Students and employers alike were extremely pleased with this year’s event,” said Earnestine Jackson, assistant director for Career Service. Students seeking full-time, professional positions were able to network with employers and companies from around the country. Many students took advantage of these opportunities and were able to schedule interviews with possible future employers. Some students were even able to be interviewed at the event in private interview rooms that were setup for employers to use.

“My experience at the Statewide Job Fair was really an eye-opener for me because it empowered me to see the wealth of opportunity within my major as a soon-to-be graduate in the College Of Business,” said Crystal Hamilton. “It also allowed me to receive ‘face time’ with key decision-makers within the companies that I was mainly interested in, and it enabled me to showcase who I am and where I saw myself in the future; that moment alone is unmatchable because once employers saw my interest and realized my vision, they were able to use their position to get me in the door and for that I’m forever grateful.”

The centralized location of UCF is ideal to attract not only students from around the state, but employers as well. Many employers use this one event as their primary source for recruiting graduates and alumni for possible positions in their companies. Employers come prepared with representatives, displays, banners, and pamphlets to provide to students and to attract and find the candidates that best suit their needs.

“With such great attendance and diversity, it is easy to see why the Statewide Job Fair is continuously one of the best events for students and employers here at UCF, year after year,” stated Jackson.
