Dr. Mary Lou Sole recently received the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses’ 2009 Flame of Excellence Award at the National Teaching Institute and Critical Care Expo in New Orleans. Developed in 2008, this award recognizes members of AACN’s Circle of Excellence Society who demonstrate sustained excellence in acute and critical care nursing.

Dr. Sole is a professor in UCF College of Nursing and has more than 30 years of nursing and classroom experience. She is an expert in airway management and mechanical ventilation and infection prevention in acute care. Dr. Sole is a fellow in two prestigious international organizations, the American Academy of Nursing and the American College of Critical Care Medicine. She also holds the university’s highest faculty honor as a UCF Pegasus Professor.
