Deandra Roberts, a student at the UCF College of Education, was chosen as one of 110 students nationally to participate this summer in the Institute for the Recruitment of Teachers at Philips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts. The Institute aims to reduce the critical underrepresentation of minority groups on the faculties of schools and colleges. The program is geared toward rising seniors and recent college graduates who otherwise are engaged during the summer in study-abroad activities or research. Participants are sponsored by the Institute as they apply to graduate schools in a consortium of 42 universities. Phillips Academy is a residential secondary school established in 1778 and is known for its academic excellence.
