UCF junior Chris Sardinas is the United States’ only finalist in Google’s “Model Your Town Competition,” which called on citizens around the world to show civic pride in their hometowns through the creation of 3-D community portraits.

Sardinas modeled his hometown of West Palm Beach and was selected as one of the top five finalists from around the world in a competition that will culminate May 15.

Finalists, including teams and individuals from cities in Peru, Germany, Spain and the UK, were picked by Google’s internal experts and judged on detail, quality of coverage, elegance and the model’s richness in metadata.

The winner will now be chosen through a public vote taking place through May 1. Votes can be cast by clicking here. To watch the video of Sardinas’ hometown 3-D model, click here.
