The UCF College of Medicine will celebrate its fifth commencement at 10 a.m. Friday, May 19.

A total of 113 students will cross the stage at The Venue behind the CFE Arena on the main campus. All those earning their medical degrees have matched with a residency program where they will practice medicine for the next three to seven years depending on their specialty.

Students earned spots in highly competitive residency programs such as Baylor, Brown, Harvard, the Mayo Clinic, Stanford and Yale as well as many local programs including Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Orlando Health, and Shands Hospital at the University of Florida.

Each student has a success story, from the single mom who lost her home to a fire during medical school, to the high school dropout who found his way to medicine after serving in the U.S. Army. The ceremony will be streamed on Facebook.

The school has built a reputation for excellence since it opened and has gained national recognition for its innovative curriculum and use of technology. Its students have consistently scored above the national average in all portions of the national licensing exam since the first class graduated.
