Starting Friday, the UCF men’s basketball program will host an NBA franchise on campus when the Philadelphia Sixers utilize the UCF Basketball Practice Facility. The Sixers will be using the facility, which is located behind the UCF Arena, to prepare for the Orlando Pro Summer League which begins next week at the RDV Sportsplex.
Philadelphia’s summer league squad includes Evan Turner, the second overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, plus Marreese Speights, who was recruited to Florida by new UCF head coach Donnie Jones, who was then an assistant with the Gators. Other notable players on the team include Jrue Holiday, who started 41 games as a rookie last season, and former Kentucky star Jodie Meeks.
The UCF Practice Facility includes a practice court with six baskets, offices and conference rooms, a film room, plus the Knights’ locker room and player lounge.
The 76ers practices are not open to the public.
