Student Development and Enrollment Services staff does not mind getting their hands dirty. They have volunteered to garden at the SDES Wellness Garden portion of the UCF Community Garden located behind The Harris Corporation Engineering Center, to help maintain the fruits and veggies.

Volunteers learn to relax and expel stress through gardening, mindfulness and breathing. The SDES Wellness Garden donates on average 30 lbs. per week to the UCF Knights Helping Knights Pantry.

The Arboretum supports a one-acre community garden that was started February 21, 2009. Since then, hundreds of volunteers have donated thousands of hours to help make the garden a success.

The predominately student-run garden welcomes all of the UCF and Orlando community to come and dig in the dirt, learn about plants and grow their own food. The garden is open to everyone. Portions of the produce currently go to student and community volunteers or donated to the UCF KHK Pantry.

The garden now fosters a diversity of seasonal crops, including tomatoes, lettuce, melons, cucumbers, broccoli, onions, sunflowers and a plethora of medicinal and culinary herbs.
