The library has 75,000 items, as well as magazines, newspapers, a bookstore and café, and a meeting room for 150 people. It also houses a law library, a children’s story room, and a garden and teen room. The library has 125 computers for public use, an information commons with 54 computers and a technology lab with 35 computers, as well as Internet and wireless access.

UCF students in the Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education programs at South Lake can use a more than 20,000-item collection of children’s books, as well as extra legal materials for UCF students who take courses such as “Legal Issues in Sports and Fitness.”

It’s no small achievement for UCF, Lake-Sumter Community College and Lake County. So far, the library already has 13,000 items in circulation and had 8,300 visitors in the first week.

The grand opening ceremony for the Cooper Memorial Library is scheduled for Friday, September 25 at 9 a.m. and is open to the public.
