He helped UCF post a 4-3 win at Florida Atlantic, topping Joshua Scholl, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 4. Sakey teamed with sophomore Claudio Romano (Valencia, Venezuela) to register an 8-2 victory at No. 3 doubles versus the Owls.

After defeating Florida Atlantic, Sakey and the Knights nearly upset No. 31 Miami on the road before falling 4-3. Sakey gave UCF its first point against the Hurricanes, knocking off Waylon Chin (6-4, 6-1) at No. 4. Sakey and Romano started the day with an 8-5 triumph at the No. 3 doubles spot.

The player of the week honor was the first of Sakey’s career.

Since the spring season began in January, Sakey is 4-1 in singles action.

UCF will return to action Friday at North Florida. The squad is slated to host Florida A&M Sunday at the UCF Tennis Complex.
