February 5, 2025 — As you may be aware, recent executive orders from the White House have led to a temporary pause on certain federal financial assistance and related activities to allow federal agencies time to review programs in alignment with the administration’s priorities. While the full impact of these actions remains unclear, I want to assure you that UCF is actively monitoring the situation and working closely with our government relations team in Washington, D.C., as well as national research organizations, to better understand any implications for our university.

At this time, we encourage faculty to continue their existing research activities unless directly notified of changes to a specific grant or contract. However, we recommend exercising caution with new financial commitments for projects that could be affected by evolving federal priorities.

Please note that during this transition period communication from federal agencies may be limited while this review process is underway. If a federal program officer contacts you regarding your project, please notify Kim Smith, AVP for Research Administration (kim@ucf.edu), so we can assist you in navigating any necessary actions.

We understand the uncertainty this situation presents, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation. UCF remains committed to supporting our research community, and we will provide updates as soon as we have more information. If you have any immediate questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
