Biography

Dr. Van Rudd is a Staff Consultant at Ball Aerospace and has acted as a lead Systems Engineer developing unique imaging and lidar systems while at Ball, Lockheed Martin, and Sandia National Lab.  His 22 peer-reviewed papers cover the design and demonstration of 3D imaging lidar, pulsed-terahertz imagers, and numerous amplified laser systems. He has led development programs worth over $70M during his 30-year career, including numerous AFRL (PHAST, LRL) and DARPA efforts (Excalibur, LRT) as well as multiple classified efforts. Dr. Rudd obtained his PhD & MS in Elec. Engineering from the Univ. of Michigan and a B.S. in Physics from UC-Davis.
