How does my decision to opt in for a S/U grading impact my Financial Aid and/or Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)?

S, U and NC grades could help a student maintain their current GPA because they will not change the GPA. S grades may also help a student meet the earned hours requirement.   However, a U or NC grade would not help a student meet the earned hours requirement nor the SAP Completion Percentage standard.

Students with a “Not Meet” SAP status after the Spring 2020 term may submit a SAP Appeal to the Office of Student Financial Assistance (SFA) for possible reinstatement. The SAP Appeal can be found on the SFA website, www.ucf.edu/financial-aid/document/satisfactory-academic-progress-appeal/.  Appeals are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

S, U and NC grades could help a student maintain their current GPA because they will not impact the GPA. However, U grades do not count towards the UCF Hour requirement. This may result in you being deficit in the required number of UCF hours you must complete. Your renewal eligibility will be determined at the end of your evaluation period, i.e. Students who started Fall 2021 and after your renewal eligibility will be evaluated at the end of Summer. For students who started before Fall 2021, your renewal eligibility will be evaluated at the end of Spring.
