UCF President John C. Hitt was presented recently with an honorary Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction from Seminole State College of Florida in recognition of his role of “building up the vitality of our entire Central Florida region.”
Hitt, who this year celebrated his 20th anniversary as UCF president, was the guest speaker at the April 27 commencement at Seminole State. The college awarded more than 1,600 associate degrees and program certificates, the largest graduation it has held.
In addition to congratulating the students who received their Associate’s degrees, the president praised the college’s second group of baccalaureate-degree students that are “the trailblazers for thousands of future Seminole State College students who will graduate with degrees in nursing, engineering technology, business and other disciplines.”
Scott Howat, chairman of Seminole State’s District Board of Trustees, presented the president with the degree, thanking him for building a lasting relationship with the college and the community.
