The UCF Sanford Business Incubator is open for business after a ribbon-cutting ceremony Sept. 10.

The incubator, located in the Welaka Building at 110 W. First St. in historic downtown Sanford, is a joint effort of UCF and the City of Sanford. It will involve participation from Seminole Community College’s Small Business Development Center, the Florida High Tech Corridor and the Senior Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE).

The UCF Business Incubation Program provides early-stage technology companies with the enabling tools, training and infrastructure to create financially stable, high-growth enterprises. After 10 years of operation, the program has served more than 130 companies, including more than 75 current clients. Clients and graduates have created more than 1,600 jobs with an average salary of approximately $60,000 and have received more than $200 million of investment capital. They generate more than $500 million in revenues annually.

The Sanford location is the sixth site in the UCF Business Incubation Program. The others are in Orlando, Winter Springs and Leesburg.
