Knights Wake, the wakeboarding club at UCF, swept the 2019 USA Wakeboard Collegiate Nationals last weekend in Orlando over 13 other teams from around the country.
Wakeboarders perform maneuvers in and above the water in two categories: while riding behind a boat or being pulled by cables.
UCF became the first team in the championship’s history to sweep both titles, beating second-place University of Florida in the cable competition, and second-place Arizona State University in the boat competition. The team hosted the event at the club’s training facility, the Orlando Watersports Complex.
Camden Vaughn, a film and mass media junior from Greenville, South Carolina, has been a rider on the club for two years and says it was rewarding to see the club get the recognition it deserves.
“I have had the honor to watch every single person in this club push themselves and train for this moment,” he said. “It makes me incredibly proud that the rest of the country can see that UCF has the best wakeboarding club in the country.”
The UCF Sport Club Program is a national powerhouse, having now won 38 individual and team national club titles.
