BIOGRAPHY:

Alison joined Dr. Melanie Beazley’s environmental chemistry lab in the Fall of 2023 as a PhD student. She has a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Purdue University and a master’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Central Florida. She became a PhD candidate at the University of Central Florida in the Fall of 2025. Alison finds chemistry most interesting when she can get her hands dirty and thoroughly enjoys both wetlab and field work.

RESEARCH:

Alison’s research centers around aquatic chemistry and the bioremediation of aquatic ecosystems. Her interest lies primarily in oceanic ecosystems. Her current project utilizes electrospinning as a means of core-shell nanofiber generation, forming fibers with a bioremedial core and a natural polymer shell in order to reduce oil contamination of coastal and freshwater ecosystems using biodegradable shells and environmentally friendly cores. She hopes to use the methodology for fiber generation with other bioremedial cores, after completion of her current research.
