UCF Giving Tuesday 2021 Donors Set a New Record While Making an Impact

Over the past eight years, UCF has participated in Giving Tuesday, a global day of generosity that was created in 2012 and takes place on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. On Nov. 30 this year, more than 870 donors from all over the nation contributed over $1.16 million — marking UCF’s best giving Tuesday yet.

“Philantrophy is incredibly important on the UCF campus and none of this community would be possible without all of your help,” says Meg Hall, UCF student body president. “On behalf of the entire student body, we just want to say thank you and we appreciate your support.”

The funds will benefit a range of areas that support student success, social mobility and innovative research. A $1 million gift from Mark L. Plaumann ’74 ’79MBA and wife Marilyn E. Wilson will be used for an endowed scholarship fund for first-generation College of Business students. Plaumann, who studied accounting and business at UCF, and his wife have donated to the university for more than 30 years.

“UCF was flexible and affordable, and the education was rigorous,” he says. “I am grateful for my career, and UCF prepared me for the success I have had.”

Last year, more than 600 donors raised $164,000 toward student success at UCF, funding scholarships, career services, Knights Pantry, academic support, athletics and more.
