UCF students, faculty and staff raised nearly $77,000 during this year’s Relay for Life to fund cancer research.

More than 75 teams participated in the annual event, held April 16 on Memory Mall. Topping the list with the most funds raised were Uknighted for a Cure; Phi Sigma Pi; the Center for Distributed Learning; UCF Finance and Accounting; and Strategy, Marketing, Communications and Admissions.

Teams collected donations and organized a variety of fundraisers, including bake sales and chariot rides at the overnight event.

The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life is an international movement to end cancer in which teams raise funds to support cancer research. Team members take turns walking around a track or path, with a goal of always having at least one representative walking at all times.
