Biography

Eugene A. Paoline, III studies police organizations, occupational socialization and culture, and the dynamics that shape officer attitudes and decision-making behavior. His work examines topics such as occupational stress, job satisfaction, procedural justice and legitimacy, as well as the ways in which internal (organizational) and external (street-level) work environments influence police officer outcomes.
Paoline also explores the impact of policy, training and leadership of police agencies. His research informs the development of evidence-based practices, interventions and training programs that enhance organizational efficacy, reduce occupational risk, and improve police operations. His scholarship has contributed to national-level analyses and federally funded initiatives focused on strengthening the structure and functioning of police organizations.
