Biography

Dr. Lisa Brooks is an Associate Lecturer in the School of Teacher Education. She has an Ed.D. in Curriculum & Instruction with a focus on Mathematics Education. Her research focuses on helping teachers facilitate student discourse to increase conceptual understanding of mathematics. Dr. Brooks is an experienced elementary and middle school teacher, new teacher mentor, mathematics coach, and internship supervisor and coordinator. She is co-author of Making Sense of Mathematics for Teaching Grades K-2 and Making Sense of Mathematics for Teaching the Small Group. She has multiple publications in national and international education journals. She also provides professional development for educators, school leaders, and district leaders.
