The Wellness & Health Promotion Services (WHPS) office offers a wide variety of services and programming aimed at helping students "be well" so they can "do well".

For students focused on living healthy lifestyles we provide education and workshops on safer sex, nutrition, stress management, alcohol and other drugs, sleep, healthy relationships and body image. To support student safety we provide training in sexual violence prevention as well as HIV Testing and Risk Reduction Counseling. For those students struggling with alcohol or other substance use, we provide assessment, brief intervention, counseling and referrals. In addition we host a number of support group meetings.

Additional Services

Certified wellness coaches are trained to assist you in establishing time management skills, setting goals for physical activity and reducing stress. Our team also includes a registered dietitian to provide students with free nutrition coaching. After an intake appointment to discuss your goals, you can personalize further Wellness Coaching Sessions based on your needs. Specially trained staff help you achieve fitness goals, manage stress, realize nutrition goals, plan meals on a budget, quit smoking and apply for food financial assistance. FreshU, along with our partners at the UCF Arboretum and Knights Helping Knights Pantry, offers free workshops, cooking demonstrations and cooking classes with fresh local produce. In the cooking demonstrations, our nutrition coordinator teaches you how to incorporate fruits and vegetables into your diet and reduce food waste. You will follow along with the step-by-step cooking process, get to taste the final dish and take home a recipe card so you can make it yourself. For more of a hands-on culinary experience, check out our cooking classes. You will be divided into small groups at cooking stations, each containing the necessary kitchen tools and ingredients to complete the dish. At the end, you’ll not only taste the meal and receive a recipe card, you will bring home the skills and confidence to use these cooking techniques on your own. Even when you can’t attend a cooking class, fresh, organic fruits and vegetables are right at your fingertips. Simply visit one of the Tower Gardens located conveniently throughout campus.
