Biography

Chiara Mazzucchelli, Ph.D., is Professor and Dr. Neil Euliano Chair in Italian Studies at UCF. She directs the Italian Studies program and teaches courses in Italian language and culture as well as seminars on Italian and Italian-American literature.

A leading scholar in Italian and Italian-American studies, Mazzucchelli’s the author of The Heart and the Island (SUNY Press, 2015), Bastimenti d’inchiostro (Kalós, 2024), and a forthcoming monograph with SUNY Press. Her work has appeared in journals such as Italica, Nuova Prosa, and Forum Italicum, among others. She previously served as editor-in-chief of VIA—Voices in Italian Americana and was named a UCF Provost Fellow for her leadership in academic governance.

In 2024, Mazzucchelli was awarded the title of Cavaliere dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia (Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy) by the President of the Italian Republic in recognition of her contributions to the promotion of Italian culture abroad.
