Advancing AI. Inventing the Future.
A bold, university-wide initiative, the UCF Institute of Artificial Intelligence (IAI) will unite renowned faculty experts who are advancing AI across disciplines and across multiple colleges — enhancing students’ educational experiences, as well as driving discovery that positively impacts industry, the economy and society.
UCF continues to fuel strong momentum in AI — from machine learning to mathematics, computer vision to healthcare and so much more. This future-focused new institute further propels us to the forefront of AI research and education, and solidifies our university’s place among the most innovative in the nation.

AI is massively transforming how we live, work and learn. As Florida’s Premier Engineering and Technology University, UCF is uniquely positioned to lead in this critical space. This initiative reflects our broader commitment to grow research, scale our areas of excellence and prepare students to lead in a technology-driven future.”

Supporting Strong Faculty Collaboration
More than two dozen esteemed UCF researchers will make up the institute, representing several of the university’s colleges and a variety of future-focused fields. Based in the same building for maximum collaboration, these faculty members will lead high-impact research and elevate AI educational offerings across the university.
This will create many opportunities for UCF students to gain hands-on experience, and for UCF partners — from prominent companies to government and community stakeholders — to explore new ideas that can revolutionize industry.
Driving Discovery Across AI Research
UCF’s interdisciplinary spirit, collaborative atmosphere and creative approaches support extensive research success. Strengthening Industry Connections
Our longstanding relationships and growing network of powerful connections in AI fields reflect mutually beneficial outcomes and underpin our role as a catalyst for industry and economic growth.
As an R1 metropolitan research university with strategic proximity to industry, UCF faculty members receive exceptional access and insight through collaborative, outcome-driven research — and UCF students become better prepared to fill the roles of tomorrow thanks to real-world internship and co-op experience.
We are thrilled by the news that UCF is creating the Institute of AI under the direction of Professor Mubarak Shah. As artificial intelligence continues to transform every aspect of the financial services industry, Addition Financial strongly supports UCF’s vision to establish an institute that advances AI through meaningful engagement, impactful education and responsible innovation. We look forward to collaborating with the institute, from recruiting and hiring AI students for jobs or internships within the credit union, to connecting with researchers to utilize AI and better serve our members.”
