The minor in Health Informatics addresses the critical needs of the health care industry by providing innovative, focused education in the rapidly expanding field of health informatics. Students will develop essential competencies to support the health care sector's drive toward improving patient care, reducing costs, and enhancing population health outcomes.

Health informaticists serve as vital bridges between clinical practice and technology, focusing not only on health data and systems, but also on the strategic development, maintenance, and ethical use of health information. This 18-credit curriculum prepares students to complement their major field of study with specialized knowledge in health informatics, positioning them for diverse career opportunities in health care organizations, technology companies, public health agencies, and research institutions. It would be an appropriate addition to many degree programs, across several colleges at the university.
