The B.S.B.A. in Risk Management & Insurance (RMI) is a workforce‐aligned undergraduate program that prepares students for high‐demand careers in the insurance, risk management, and financial services sectors. The curriculum builds foundational knowledge in risk assessment, insurance operations, regulatory environments, data analytics, and financial risk management, including risk financing strategy and risk transfer and retention decisions. Students develop broad familiarity with major insurance products - property and casualty, life, health, annuities, disability income, long‐term care, social insurance, and retirement—reinforced through applied learning experiences such as internships, case studies, and industry engagement. Graduates are equipped with strong analytical, problem‐solving, and communication skills for roles in underwriting, claims, brokerage, consulting, catastrophe analytics, compliance, employee benefits, enterprise risk management, reinsurance, financial planning, and related fields.
Designed to meet evolving workforce needs and support the broader insurance and risk management marketplace, the RMI program emphasizes practical skills, exposure to real‐world insurance and risk management practices, and career readiness. By integrating business fundamentals with specialized risk and insurance coursework, the degree prepares graduates to contribute immediately to employers across a wide range of sectors and geographies, including those addressing the resilience of Florida communities. Graduates bring a strong, intuitive command of data, analytics, and emerging technologies shaping the future of the industry. The program leverages partnerships with insurers, reinsurers, brokers, agents, and regulatory agencies to deliver a high‐impact, career‐focused educational experience.

Graduation Requirements
- Students who change their degree programs and select this major must adopt the most current catalog.
- Students wanting to major in Risk Management & Insurance must meet admission requirements for the major.
- Any student receiving a business degree must complete a minimum of 30 of the 60 upper level business credit hours for their degree program in the UCF College of Business Administration. Additionally, 12 of the 30 credit hours completed at UCF must be from the department or school in which the student majors.
- For students seeking a double major within the College of Business, a maximum of 6 hours of Required Courses for the Major or Restricted Electives may count towards another business major. Not eligible for a double degree with another College of Business Administration major.
- A maximum of 6 hours of Core Requirements or Restricted Electives may count towards another degree program or minor.
- Students in the Risk Management & Insurance major must maintain a 2.75 or higher cumulative Grade Point Average in all 3000 level or higher Risk Management & Insurance courses taken at UCF and a 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA in all College of Business courses taken at UCF. Failure to maintain the required GPAs will result in the student being placed on Lack of Progress in the major and/or College. If a student on Lack of Progress fails to achieve the minimum required GPA in the subsequent term of enrollment, the student will be dismissed from the Risk Management & Insurance major and/or College of Business. Students dismissed from their major are not eligible to declare a minor in the major they were dismissed from. Students who change their major while on Lack of Progress in the Major and take courses in a subsequent term of enrollment are not permitted to return to the major or minor for which they were placed on Lack of Progress. A student who is dismissed may seek consideration for readmittance into the College or major by submitting an academic appeal through the College indicating the reasons for academic difficulties and positive plans for achieving the required GPA. Readmission is not automatic or guaranteed and as an exception to College policy is rarely granted.

- A 2.0 UCF GPA
- 42 semester hours of upper division credit completed
- 30 of the last 39 hours of course work must be completed in residency at UCF.
- A maximum of 45 hours of extension, correspondence, CLEP, Credit by Exam, and Armed Forces credits permitted.
- Complete the General Education Program, the State Writing and Math Requirement, and nine hours of Summer credit.
