During the COVID-19 pandemic, one UCF student was at the forefront of serving the community. Kimberly Bogers worked as a nurse at Nemours Children’s Hospital while earning her Leadership and Management MSN and Nurse Educator Certificate. After receiving her Nursing BSN at UCF, Bogers continued her graduate program at the university because of the experience she had while earning her BSN. “I had such an awesome experience with UCF as an undergraduate, so I didn’t even consider looking at any other universities for my graduate school journey,” she says.

As a fraternal triplet, Bogers finds that she stands out professionally because of her passion for involvement. “I love to be involved with organizations and projects that I feel are making a positive impact on the world around them, and I rarely hesitate to help out if help is needed,” Bogers says.

Along with her studies and nursing job, Bogers served as the reunion chair for the College of Nursing’s Alumni Chapter and the webmaster/social media chair for the Theta Epsilon chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honour Society of Nursing. She gives advice to students saying, “Time management is so important! Make sure to keep track of the due dates for your assignments and projects, and don’t be afraid to ask for help or guidance early on if you’re confused.”

After graduation, Bogers continued working as a registered nurse, helping with education, research, and improvement projects within her department and the hospital. She also spends time in community health nursing, providing local communities with health resources and education, especially for children and teenagers.

“My mantra in life is short, be kind,” Bogers says.
